Job Description
WORK LOCATION: 6200 Park Avenue, Des Moines. Frequent in-state travel and occasional out-of-state travel are required. Some weekends may be necessary, especially during the live racing season. This is a salaried position and may require more than 40 hours per week. After 6 months there is a possibility for up to 1 day a week to work remote.
This fast-paced position is an important part of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission's management team that develops, implements and oversees racing, gaming and sports wagering administrative policies and procedures for the state of Iowa. General Counsel duties include, but are not limited to:
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN to applicants with 4 or more years of administrative law experience or 1 year or more of legal experience with Iowa Racing and Gaming law.

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.
Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited law school and the equivalent of five years of full-time successful and responsible experience in the practice of law;
OR
the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in the practice of law in the employing agency shall be considered as qualifying experience.
