We are currently looking for a General Clerk II for a contract position with the Department of Justice / United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) located in Memphis, Tennessee. This is initially for a 1-year contract with 2 additional optional years (for a total of 3 years) with the USAO. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and be able to clear an extensive background check / clearance investigation by the Department of Justice.
The individual will provide backup receptionist support as well as the administrative and clerical duties outlined below:
- Assists in maintaining property records and conducting inventory. Requests issuance, return and repairs of non-expendable office equipment and furniture.
- Serves as back-up Information Receptionist for the USAO. Receives telephone calls to the office and transfers calls to appropriate personnel.
- Responds to inquiries, providing general information regarding office programs.
- Receives visitors to the USAO, enters information into the Visitor Management System, and refers each visitor to the appropriate person or office as appropriate and determined by local procedure.
- Explains applicable security rules, regulations, and procedures regarding visitors to employees, managers, and visitors.
- Receives, reviews, and distributes hand delivered incoming mail.
- Performs office automation duties and other administrative support duties – stocking supplies, timekeeper, filing, assisting with government vehicles.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma is required (an undergraduate degree is preferred).
- The contractor must have a minimum of 1-2 years of administrative experience in a professional office environment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to read and follow directions.
- Experience interacting with the public.
- Skilled with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good organizational skills.
This is a full time / 40 hours per week position. Candidates will be working onsite each day (telework is not available for this role). This position offers the accrual of 2-weeks of paid time off each year, paid federal holidays and is eligible to enroll in our health benefits program.
