JOB TITLE: Professional Worker/Student Support Assistant

JOB TYPE: Part Time - 10-18 hours/week
LOCATION: Davenport Middle School, Davenport, WA
DEPARTMENT: WSU Tri-Cities GEAR UPOFFICE HOURS: Various during the school day plus some evenings/weekends
Duties: The Professional Worker/Student Support Assistant has the responsibility for helping with students academic success in middle school and high school to ultimately increase GEAR UP students on-time graduation and enrollment and success in post-secondary education and training.
The primary responsibilities assigned to the Professional Worker/Student Support Assistant position include:
• One-on-One and small group student support regarding academic success • Organizational skills and goal setting • College Bound Scholarship • College and Career exploration • Working with cohort students on a post-secondary plan personalized to the student addressing financial aid, budgeting, and housing • Promoting and assisting with College & Career Visits • Planning • Coordinating field trips for students • Provide positive, consistent follow-up with students • Travel with students on day trips and overnight • Parent/Family outreach • Model academic excellence and encourage a positive attitude • Organize, maintain, and update student and program files in accordance with program and district requirements
Required Qualifications: Strong relationship building skills Ability to initiate and engage students Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Self-directed individual with a strong work ethic and ability to anticipate program needs and respond proactively Understanding and applying good customer service practices Leadership experience
Desired Qualifications: Associates degree or higher Can be relied upon to achieve excellent results with little need for oversight Ability to promote and inspire college readiness skills Work as part of a team and support the overall mission of the program Identify and advocate for changes necessary to better meet program needs
