Own the Last Word on Quality

Reports to: Quality & Safety Manager

Our customers expect perfection. Your mission is to make sure they get it. You’ll lead final inspections and guide machinists through in-process checks so every part ships exactly to spec—documented, certified, and ready for demanding applications.

How You Create Impact

Picture this: a tight-tolerance order hits the schedule. You review the customer’s contract, align it with our manufacturing documentation, and establish the right inspection criteria from customer specifications. You program/operate the CMM, verify profiles on the optical comparator and surface finish on the profilometer, and record results per procedure. If you detect a discrepancy, you process the nonconformance and assist in determining the root cause per standard work—preventing recurrence. Before anything ships, you complete the documentation that certifies all requirements have been met.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Translate customer contract requirements and confirm alignment with manufacturing documentation.
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections using calibrated equipment; document outcomes precisely.
  • Calibrate and maintain precision measuring devices per defined work instructions; ensure calibration due dates remain current for employee, customer-provided, and company-owned equipment.
  • Review and complete shipping documentation to certify full compliance prior to delivery.
  • Process nonconforming product; assist with root cause analysis per standard work.
  • Help train fellow employees to elevate inspection knowledge across the workforce.
  • Establish correct inspection criteria based on customer specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on inspection equipment.
  • Accurately complete job-related paperwork and production reporting for time, attendance, and inventory.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using 6S; complete internal 6S audits on schedule.
  • Comply with all safe practices, policies, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 4 years in Quality Control or Machining.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods and logistics administration.
  • Proven experience with optical comparator and profilometer.
  • Fluent in blueprint reading; advanced understanding of GD&T and military specifications.
  • Background with lean and quality systems preferred (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100D).
  • CMM operation and troubleshooting required; Zeiss Calypso preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP and quality software interfaces preferred.
  • Strong math skills, basic computer knowledge, and excellent written/verbal communication (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Team-first mindset and appetite for challenging work.
