Garden Center Retail Sales Representative

Job Summary

La Grange Park Ace Hardware is looking for a friendly, energetic, and dependable Garden Center Sales Associate to join our team. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service in our garden center, assisting customers with plants and outdoor products, and helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming outdoor shopping area.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in the garden center with product selection and basic plant care questions
• Water, care for, and maintain the health and appearance of plants
• Stock, price, and rotate garden center merchandise including plants, soil, fertilizers, and outdoor décor
• Load plants, mulch, soil, and other garden items into customer vehicles
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the garden center and outdoor displays
• Monitor inventory and report damaged or unsellable plants
• Assist inside the store as needed, including cashiering or stocking
• Follow all safety and lifting procedures

Qualifications

• Interest in gardening, plants, or outdoor living (experience preferred but not required)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work outdoors in different weather elements (heat, rain, wind, etc.)
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Dependable, punctual, and team‑oriented
• Willingness to learn about garden products and plant care

Schedule Requirements

• Flexible availability required
• Must be able to work weekends
• Seasonal spring and summer hours, with possible extension
