SUMMARY:

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all electronic gaming devices (EGDs) under the direction of Slot Technical Shift Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Handles floor repair and proper preventative maintenance of all EGDs, including cleaning, overhauls, etc., in accordance with gaming regulations.
  • Handles the initial setup and checkout of new EGDs.
  • Assists Management in the breakdown, relocation and setup of EGDs and stands to be relocated.
  • Assists Slot Floor people in verifying jackpots as needed.
  • Assists in ensuring EGD integrity when jackpots occur and at other times requested.
  • Maintains current knowledge of local jurisdiction gaming laws (federal, state, compact, etc.) and attendant regulations, as well as property internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Brings disputes and unusual guest activities to the attention of the shift manager.
  • Promotes positive guest relations through prompt, courteous and efficient service.
  • Possess knowledge of moving mechanical parts, EGDs, electronics and electrical functions.
  • Instructs Gaming Technicians on the technical aspects of gaming device repair.
  • Performs immediate, periodic and overhaul maintenance on EGDs, equipment, hardware and peripheral attachments.
  • Identifies and isolates electronics faults at board level.
  • Assists floor personnel upon demand from time to time in guest service and disputes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of test metering devices as well as use of all EGD test and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Performs maintenance and repair functions to electrical/electronic faults on EGDs up to the printed circuit board level.   
  • Researches and diagnoses EGD malfunctions.
  • Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of all processes, testing, software, and hardware setups of various equipment including, but not limited to, pallet jack, forklift, and sign/engraving machines.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Posses the proficient use and knowledge of all slot and peripheral equipment attached to the gaming device floor. Can demonstrate skills in diagnosing and repairing printed circuit board. Knows and demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of all conversion processes, testing, key chipping, RAM clearing and software and hardware setups.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED preferred and three years slot floor experience.  Electronics degree preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and understand EGD technical manuals.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  Ability to develop and maintain a strong relationship with casino technical staff.  Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.  Ability to specify and develop queries/reports using a range of software.  Ability to think logically and follow detailed instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally 100 lbs., also will be required to regularly push, pull, and maneuver gaming devices, up to 100 pounds, for the purpose of installation, repair or maintenance. The employee may occasionally be required to climb a twelve (12) foot ladder. Uses hand trucks, power, jack and other various electrical or mechanical equipment. Stoops over, kneels and crouches while repairing gaming devices.
