General position summary:

The Furniture Installation Supervisor oversees the crew and move process specified in a commercial job scope of work. The supervisor acts as the point of contact with the client, directs the order and assignment of work duties, and coordinates with the company sales and operations staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise O&I staff on job sites as directed.
  • Assist with the dispatch of commercial crews.
  • Works with dispatch and operations to develop a schedule based upon workload.
  • Act as liaison between Suddath's crew and commercial customers
  • Supervise, document, and communicate job changes to appropriate parties.
  • Perform on-site customer demonstrations and coaching.
  • Set up labeling and placard systems for commercial relocations.
  • Serve as on-site project supervisor.
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) visits; set and monitor work performance standards.
  • Follow IOMI training methods and guidelines.
  • Perform pre-move and post-move walk-throughs for commercial projects.
  • Work with warehouse staff to ensure accurate inventory when removing or adding to customer inventory.
  • Work to ensure accurate equipment and material counts.
  • Act as liaison between sales, operations, and crews.

Job Skills Required:

  • Experience working in a computerized inventory management system.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multitask.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent people skills; ability to work with both internal and external customers.
  • High energy and enthusiasm, with a strong desire for self-improvement and advancement.
  • Forklift certified; driver qualified preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provides day-to-day direction to crews on job sites; does not have direct responsibility for performance reviews, compensation decisions, or other formal people-management activities.

Education & Experience:

High school or G.E.D. degree; five to seven years' related experience and/or training in office moving and furniture planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2-5 years' experience as a supervisor; commercial furniture installation/facilities experience preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Operations:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS (Human Resources Information System), timekeeping and other applications used in the performance of job duties.

Planning/Organization:

  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday
  • Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work
