Our client, a leading global investment firm, is seeking a Fund Controller / Fund Accountant to join its growing finance team in Palo Alto.The firm manages institutional capital across both hedge fund and private equity strategies with a primary focus on technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) investments. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the COO, offering significant ownership, interaction with senior leadership, and the opportunity to oversee critical finance functions across multiple investment vehicles.About the RoleOwn fund-level accounting and financial operations across the firm's hedge fund and private equity strategies.Oversee U.S. tax matters for both the investment manager and principal.Report directly to the COO while maintaining meaningful independence in day-to-day responsibilities and supervising key external vendors and service providers.ResponsibilitiesOwn the Close: Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual close execution across funds, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.Oversee Valuations: Coordinate quarterly credit, warrant, and equity valuations alongside the investment team, reviewing assumptions and ensuring consistency with valuation policies.Lead Tax Compliance: Serve as the primary tax lead for fund and GP entities, including K-1s, withholding, and entity-level filings while coordinating with external advisors and administrators.Drive Audit: Manage external audits from start to finish, coordinating deliverables across administrators, auditors, and other service providers.Partner with internal stakeholders to improve accounting processes, reporting workflows, and internal controls.Qualifications5+ years of finance or accounting experience with meaningful exposure to hedge fund or private equity fund structures.CPA strongly preferred.Big Four public accounting experience is a significant plus.Experience owning fund audit and tax compliance deliverables, including K-1s, PFIC reporting, and Forms 5471 and 8621.Strong working knowledge of fund structures, NAV reporting, capital activity, and LP allocations.Proven ability to manage external vendors, auditors, and tax advisors while balancing multiple deadlines.Advanced Excel skills.Experience utilizing AI tools such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar technologies to improve efficiency and streamline workflows.Compensation & GrowthAll-in compensation of $150,000–$250,000+ , depending on experience.Exceptional long-term growth opportunity with meaningful upward mobility and leadership potential#J-18808-Ljbffr
