Fund Accounting – Assistant Controller (Private Equity / Real Estate)
Dallas, TX (Onsite – 4 days/week)
$122,000 – $183,000 base salary
We are partnering with a leading fund administration platform supporting a premier real estate investment manager to hire an Assistant Controller within their Fund Accounting team. This is a high-impact, embedded role operating directly within the client’s finance function, offering significant ownership and exposure to complex fund structures.
This position is ideal for a senior fund accounting professional ready to step into a broader controller-level role with direct involvement in fund operations, reporting, and valuation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as an embedded finance partner within the client’s fund accounting team
• Review quarterly financial statements, NAV workpapers, and investor reporting prepared by third-party administrators
• Oversee accounting for closed-end real estate debt and private fund structures
• Review capital calls, distributions, allocations, and waterfall calculations
• Support management fees, carried interest, and complex fund economics
• Participate in quarterly valuation and fair value processes
• Assist with liquidity management, credit facilities, and deal-level funding activity
• Coordinate audit processes, including review of workpapers and support schedules
• Support investor reporting, ad hoc analysis, and stakeholder requests
• Help enhance reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiencies
• Contribute to new fund launches and structuring initiatives
Qualifications:
• 8–12 years of accounting experience within alternative investments
• Strong background in private equity, real estate, or private credit fund accounting
• Deep understanding of closed-end fund structures and NAV processes
• Experience reviewing work performed by third-party fund administrators
• Exposure to audits, financial statements, and investor reporting
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate in a client-facing capacity
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
