Are you a skilled cook who loves creating nourishing meals and wants to make a real impact? At OPI Houston, a therapeutic residential program for young adults, we’re looking for a compassionate and organized Residential Cook to join our team. You’ll prepare home-style meals in a peaceful, ranch-style setting while supporting the healing journey of our residents.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for meal preparation, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, and building positive daily connections with clients. If you’re experienced in food prep, organized, and passionate about helping others, we’d love to hear from you.
OPI Houston supports young adults (ages 18–28) healing from trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and other mental health challenges. Our 34-acre ranch provides equine therapy, family therapy, and individual counseling in a peaceful, recovery-focused setting.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals for clients and staff, fostering a positive dining experience.
- Ensure food service meets high standards for nutrition, safety, sanitation, and quality.
- Follow recipes, determine food quantities, and adhere to meal schedules
- Adhere to any dietary restrictions and special dietary needs of clients.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Participate in weekly meetings as well as ongoing training, development, and supervision.
Qualifications:
- A passion for cooking and a warm, professional demeanor
- Current Food Handler’s Certification (ServSafe preferred)
- At least 21 years old
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and follow structured meal plans
- Comfortable with basic computer tasks (e.g., email, data entry)
- Experience in residential, healthcare, or mental health settings is a plus
