Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum coverage of $100,000 and includes the same amount of Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage. Medical, Dental and prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Voluntary Vision Plan: May enroll within the first 31 days of employment date. Job Summary/Basic Function Full-Time Lecturer will teach 1-5 courses of COMM 101 or any other courses that assigned. Specific Responsibilities The duties in this role may include: Primarily teach introduction to public speaking, a core first-year foundational studies course for all undergraduates. Qualified candidates may have the opportunity to teach other courses that serve the department's communication curriculum. Provide instruction for 5 in-person courses a semester. Full time lecturers teach a 5-5 course load across fall and spring semesters. Assess student work and provide constructive and timely feedback on how to improve students' content knowledge, critical thinking skills, research abilities, and oral and written communication skills, etc. Mentor first-year undergraduate students to successfully acclimate to the College. Build, maintain and keep current course Canvas sites. Hold office hours. Attend College workshops and professional development opportunities related to the first-year curriculum; complete campus-wide training required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources.
