Position Description The Full-Time Faculty Business Administration Open Rank and Internship Director is a 10-month campus-based position with teaching and administrative responsibilities. Teaching responsibilities include 24-30 contact hours per academic year commensurate with rank in internship and business courses within the facultys areas of expertise. Six contact hours of release time per academic year are provided for Internship Director duties which include maintaining and expanding a network of employer contacts to support student internships supporting students in the internship search process and collecting and tracking student performance and other internship data.
The Full-Time Faculty Business Administration and Internship Director fulfills all responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as defined in the Stevenson University Policies and the BSOBL Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Rank and title will be determined at the time of hire and will be commensurate with education and experience.
Education and Experience Doctorate in Business Administration or a related field and college-level teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher. A Masters Degree in Business Administration or a related field is required for the rank of Lecturer.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Industry knowledge and experience in management, economics, finance, or related business areas. Demonstrated ability to teach campus-based courses in the business administration program. Capability to develop and maintain a professional network to support advising and mentoring of students seeking internships in assigned BSOBL majors.
Demonstrated ability to supervise interns and work with external employers to ensure that students have meaningful experiential learning opportunities. Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills and demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with diverse constituencies.
Ability to create inclusive learning experiences that will help students to develop professionally, intellectually, and socially. Commitment to advising, mentoring, and guiding students and supervising student scholarly activity. Demonstrated ability to engage in curriculum development planning, implementation, and assessment. Ability to assess student performance and learning.
Ability to use classroom and learning management technologies, e.g., Blackboard and MS Office applications. Excellent work ethic and organizational reasoning and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel between campuses. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, and repetitive motions. Close visual acuity.
Essential Functions Instructional Responsibilities Teach 18-24 contact hours per academic year as assigned by Department Chair and BSOBL Dean and commensurate with rank, including internship courses for assigned BSOBL majors and business courses in the facultys areas of expertise.
Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, or online courses and in immediate preparation for them, maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught, preparing teaching materials, communicating with students on course-related matters, directing individual and group studies, reviewing projects and papers, evaluating and providing feedback to students in timely fashion, and submitting mid-term and final grades on time.
Design curricula that align with the Universal Design for Learning principles. Utilize the Universitys learning management system, e.g., Blackboard, to publish the required course materials and record grades. Maintain teaching effectiveness by encouraging active student learning, reflecting and responding to student evaluations of teaching, and adjusting teaching strategies per recommendations from classroom observations.
Faculty Mentoring and Evaluation Committee (FMEC) and supervisor evaluations. Schedule and hold at least three office hours per week. Participate in general curriculum development and other departmental activities associated with a full-time University faculty position.
Other Responsibilities Offer quality advising services to students, including providing recommendations and resources to students on academic, co-curricular, career, and/or graduate school matters.
Department service includes contributing to student recruitment, retention, and registration efforts, attending departmental meetings, and participating in planning and coordination of departmental events.
University service includes but is not limited to service on the University School and Departmental committees. Participate in ongoing departmental activities such as curriculum development and assessment. Attend all convocations, including commencement exercises. Attend all University Faculty, Faculty/Staff, and relevant academic Department/School meetings.
Scholarly Activity Develop and maintain independent intellectual pursuits appropriate to the faculty rank, including research and scholarly activities that enhance teaching effectiveness.
Attend professional development workshops, seminars, and conferences to keep current in the field and enhance teaching effectiveness. Pursue internal and external funding sources to support scholarly activities appropriate to the faculty rank.
Internship Director Duties Establish relationships with employers, alumni, and industry partners to identify and promote internship opportunities for assigned BSOBL majors.
Collaborate with the Career Connection Center in collecting, analyzing, and reporting internship placement and employer feedback to inform program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
Plan and facilitate internship information sessions, employer panels, and networking events for students. Collaborate with the BSOBL Academic Program Administrators, APAs, and the Dean to design, implement, and maintain consistent internship processes, documentation, and evaluation practices.
Maintain and update internship-related resources, including employer and student guides, internship verification and evaluation forms, and BSOBLs Internship website.
Represent the School and University at employer and community outreach events as appropriate.
