About the Position Long Beach Community College District is currently seeking one full-time tenured Advanced Manufacturing Professor commencing with the Spring 2027 semester. This assignment also includes curriculum development, participation in the shared governance process through work in normal professional activities, committee work, and student activities. The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trades, Technology & Community Learning campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, on-line or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, OR
  • Any associate degree and six years of professional experience
  • Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree
  • The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment
  • Applicants who do not meet the Statewide Minimum Qualifications for this discipline verbatim are required to submit a Supplemental Equivalency Application

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Recent community college or lower division teaching experience in machine tools, or machine shop
  • Experience in field of course(s) to be taught, including machine setup and operation, inspection using hand and computer-controlled tools, setup and operation of 3D printers, precision layout, 5 axis milling experience, and robot machine tender experience
  • Experience with the setting up, programming and operating CNC machines including lathes and mills
  • Experience with developing work holding devices, jigs and fixtures
  • Preferred software experience: MasterCAM, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Fusion
  • Experience with inspecting machined parts, using GD&T (ASME Y14.5, ISO 14405) standards and inspection equipment
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safe working practices and procedures
  • Proficiency in Online Instruction
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate valid California Driver's License
