We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by delivering innovative and reliable technology solutions that support investing and financial planning at scale.

The Apigee Gateway team within Enterprise Middleware plays a critical role in powering Schwab’s digital ecosystem. As a senior engineering leader on this team, you will help shape and advance Schwab’s strategic API platform, enabling secure, scalable, and resilient connectivity across applications, partners, and client experiences. This role offers the opportunity to influence how modern financial services are delivered by designing enterprise-grade API capabilities that support billions of transactions and empower development teams to innovate faster.

You will contribute to the evolution of a modern API-first architecture while helping drive the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices that improve developer productivity, operational excellence, and platform scalability. Through the design and implementation of reusable API gateway capabilities, security controls, onboarding automation, and cloud-native integration patterns, you will solve complex technical challenges that directly impact business outcomes and client experiences.

Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, sound technical decision-making, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, architecture, security, infrastructure, and product teams. You will guide strategic migration efforts, support enterprise onboarding initiatives, improve observability and reliability, and help establish standards that enable secure and efficient API consumption throughout the organization. This is an opportunity to influence platform strategy, accelerate innovation, and contribute to the digital foundation of one of the leading financial services firms.
