The Staff Accountant performs a variety of professional accounting and financial support functions to assist in the daily operations of the College's Business Office. Responsibilities include maintaining financial records, preparing and reconciling accounts, processing financial transactions, and assisting with financial reporting. This position helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting data while supporting compliance with applicable federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures. The Staff Accountant works collaboratively with departments across the College to support efficient financial operations and provide excellent internal service.

Education Minimum: Associate's degree in accounting, business, or related field. Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field. Experience Minimum: One to three years of professional accounting experience. Experience Preferred: Three or more years of accounting experience, preferably in a governmental, higher education, or nonprofit environment with experience in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and budget monitoring.
Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedural manuals, policies, and guidance provided by outside sources. Ability to write routine correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the College.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency in the use of Colleague, as well as, Microsoft Word and Excel.
