Position Overview
The Cytotechnologist will be responsible for examining cellular samples to detect abnormalities and support accurate diagnoses. This role plays a critical part in patient care by ensuring high-quality laboratory analysis and collaboration with pathologists and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens
- Identify abnormal cell structures and classify findings accurately
- Collaborate with pathologists to confirm diagnoses
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of findings
- Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and quality assurance standards
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Stay current with advancements in cytotechnology and laboratory practices
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Cytotechnology, Biology, or a related field
- Completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program
- CT (ASCP) certification required or eligible
- Active Pennsylvania state licensure (if applicable) or ability to obtain
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
