Physicians Surgery Center of Tidewater is seeking a full-time Registration Representative (30–32 hours/week) to join our team. We are a busy multispecialty surgery center serving Tidewater area and are proud to be an affiliate of United Surgical Partners International (USPI). Job Description:
The Registration Representative supports front-end operations to ensure efficient patient throughput and an exceptional patient experience. Responsibilities include registration, scheduling support, reception duties, and patient financial processing. This role requires accurate data entry, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. These activities are to be performed in compliance with the philosophies, policies, procedures, goals, and budgets established by the governing board and corporate offices as well as all Federal, State, and local laws. Requires a high level of professional judgment and discretion in carrying out assignments, the ability to problem solve, a high degree of confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure. Must be able to work well with physicians and employees on sensitive issues, communicate in a professional manner and be able to use persuasion to accomplish compliance. The successful candidate will project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of administration, patients, physicians and employees.
Areas of Responsibility: (including but not limited to the following)
· Patient Registration & Administrative Support:
o Greet and interact professionally with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
o Register patients and complete all required intake documentation.
o Accurately collect and update patient demographic and insurance information.
o Provide general administrative and clerical support as needed.
· Financial & Billing Responsibilities:
o Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances in accordance with policies.
o Accurately document payments in the billing system.
o Handle funds and balance daily collections per office procedures.
· Front Desk & Communication:
o Answer incoming phone calls and provide support to registration and front office functions.
o Serve as back-up support across front office responsibilities as needed.
· Compliance & Professional Standards:
o Ensure all activities comply with governing board policies, USPI standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
o Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, physician, and organizational information.
o Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and problem-solving in daily operations.
o Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
Qualifications:
· Education:
o High School Graduate
· Experience:
o Minimum of one (1) year of clerical or healthcare-related experience preferred
o Prior experience in a hospital, outpatient facility, or ambulatory surgery center is a plus
o Medical terminology and computer experience are beneficial.
