Position Description
DEFINITION:

Provide instruction to college students through lectures, demonstrations, and studio exercises, with a focus on painting and printmaking. Teach courses such as Printmaking and other 2D & 3D design media courses, art appreciation, art history and integrating a broad understanding of visual arts disciplines.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives direct supervision and/or technical direction from the program director
  • Exercises no supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:

? Provide classroom and/or online instruction to students. These modalities include:

o Face to Face Traditional

o Hybrid

o Blended

o HyFlex

? Instructional modalities are assigned by the college in alignment with

student demand and program needs.
  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
  • Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons
  • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores
  • Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands-on experience as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate, and timely fashion, including but not limited to: Class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms, and grade rosters
  • Stay abreast of new developments and changes in the academic field, including
  • awareness of the NCCCS student success rate average(s).
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines
  • Serve classroom assigned on any of CFCC's campus locations: Downtown, North
  • campus, Burgaw campus, Surf City Campus, or other satellite campus locations.
  • Keep studio spaces clean and safe
  • Recruit students for the AFA Visual Art program
Other Important Functions:
  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed
  • Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
? This is a 30-hour per week ON CAMPUS commitment offering courses on varying modalities

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Minimum Education/Training:
  • A Master's degree in Fine Art or a Master's degree and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Fine Art courses from a regionally accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience:
  • None
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
  • 3 years of teaching experience at a post-secondary level is preferred
