Location Description:Michael foods, Inc. located in Britt, Iowa where more eggs are produced within a 100 mile radius than anywhere in the world. Responsibilities:POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Manager leads the quality assurance programs within the plant, ensuring all the programs are
adequate and followed completely in order to provide safe products, free of contamination, to all of our
customers. The manager helps his department focus on the company initiatives and goals.
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to
reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety
& Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Leads quality operations by directing quality, laboratory and sanitation department personnel.
2. Gathers, analyzes and trends quality and key performance indicators.
3. Manages incoming goods, in-process, and finished product testing programs to ensure all Food Safety
and Quality specifications are met.
4. Maintain SQF Level 3 certification and continued plant improvement through program verification
activities.
5. Maintains federal, state, and local plant compliance.
6. Leads, coaches, mentors, and trains department and plant staff as necessary on core quality values.
7. Participates in regulatory, customer and internal audits by gathering records, developing new processes,
and ensuring compliance.
8. Provides leadership in the development, training and maintenance of the plant SQF, HACCP and GMP
programs.
9. Perform duties as a Subject Matter Expert on MFI Quality Systems, interpretation of policy, and effective
implementation at the facility level.
10. Maintains good customer relationships via thorough and timely customer concern resolution.
11. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with Operations, Maintenance, HR, Safety, Corporate,
Purchasing, and Distribution personnel.
12. Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary
conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification.
Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or
personnel safety.
13. In absence, job responsibilities will be covered by the FSQ Supervisor.
14. Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
15. Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product
quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food
safety and quality.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial
reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from
customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability
to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards
of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY:
(Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability
to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science or a related field and five years of
experience performing quality assurance work in a food production operations; or
equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform
the essential duties.
2. Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations to food processing.
3. Must have the ability to understand customer specifications and perform chemical and
microbiological testing while following proper laboratory procedures.
4. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access and Word. Experience with
SAP a plus.
5. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential.
6. Technical and mathematical skills, including statistics preferred.
7. Experience with SQF or other GFSI compliant certification systems a plus.
8. Be a self-motivated individual with excellent leadership skills.
9. Have work scheduling flexibility with the ability to work some weekends.
10.Ability to operate specific equipment or tools
11.Skill in working with computers and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing
software.
12.Familiarity with special terminology such as legal, medical, or scientific terms
