Position Summary

The Frozen Supervisor is responsible for supporting the successful operation of the Frozen Department by ensuring product availability, merchandising excellence, inventory accuracy, and outstanding customer service. This position assists with supervising department associates, maintaining frozen food quality standards, managing shrink, and executing sales-driving initiatives. The Frozen Supervisor helps create a clean, safe, and organized department while contributing to overall store profitability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations

  • Assist in overseeing daily Frozen Department operations.
  • Ensure frozen cases, displays, and promotional features are fully stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to maintain in-stock conditions.
  • Ensure proper product rotation, code date checks, and freshness standards are followed.
  • Verify pricing accuracy, shelf tags, and promotional signage.
  • Support receiving, stocking, and storage of frozen merchandise.

Customer Service

  • Provide prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service.
  • Assist customers with product inquiries, special requests, and product location needs.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Promote a positive shopping experience that encourages repeat business.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Assist with training, coaching, and developing Frozen Department associates.
  • Delegate tasks and monitor productivity to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Foster a positive team environment focused on customer service and department success.
  • Provide department leadership coverage in the absence of the Frozen Manager.

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Assist with inventory management and product replenishment.
  • Help reduce shrink through proper handling, rotation, and monitoring of product conditions.
  • Execute merchandising plans, seasonal displays, and promotional programs.
  • Monitor sales trends and support initiatives that improve department performance.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and company policies.
  • Maintain proper freezer temperatures and storage conditions.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and inspection-ready department conditions.

Financial Performance

  • Support department sales, gross profit, and labor objectives.
  • Minimize losses related to damage, spoilage, and shrink.
  • Assist with inventory counts and operational reporting as required.
  • Help drive department profitability through effective merchandising and operational execution.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous grocery, retail, frozen foods, or food industry experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of merchandising, inventory management, and product handling practices preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in freezer and refrigerated environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to push, pull, and maneuver carts, pallets, and merchandise.
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
