Overview:
We’re looking for a reliable, customer-focused Front Office Retail Associate to be the face of our sod and landscape supply operation. This role sits at the center of customer interaction, order coordination, and daily sales flow. You’ll help homeowners, landscapers, and contractors get the right materials quickly and confidently.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving environment. You don’t need to know everything about sod on day one, but you do need to be willing to learn the business and grow into a trusted resource for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales:
- Greet and assist walk-in customers (homeowners, landscapers, contractors).
- Answer phones and respond to inquiries about sod, soil, stone, and materials.
- Provide basic product guidance and recommendations (training provided).
- Upsell complementary products (fertilizer, soil amendments, delivery, etc.)
Order Management:
- Create invoices and sales orders (QuickBooks or POS system).
- Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and install schedules.
- Communicate clearly with yard crew and drivers to fulfill orders accurately.
Front Office Operations:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office.
- Track customer information and ensure proper data entry.
- Help manage daily workflow and keep things moving efficiently.
Learning & Growth:
- Develop a working knowledge of sod types, seasonal considerations, and installation basics.
- Learn pricing structures and supplier relationships over time.
- Continuously improve ability to guide customers with confidence.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable using computers (QuickBooks, CRM, or similar systems).
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience in landscaping, construction, or building materials.
- Retail or front office experience.
- Conversational Spanish (or willingness to learn) to better serve a diverse customer base.
- Interest in learning the sod and turfgrass business.
