Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches is a multi-location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the body's musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons, each with a specific area of expertise.

Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches offers a team approach to your care and provides a variety of services right on campus designed for your convenience and ensuring an outstanding continuum of care. These include on-site X-ray, on-site MRI, on-site physical therapy, and aquatic therapy.

As Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches continues to grow, we are looking for a Front Office Representative. Please see below for the functions and requirements for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES 

  • Greet and acknowledge patients promptly and professionally; update appointment status in CPS to notify Medical Assistants (MAs) and Providers of patient arrival
  • Assist patients with completing medical history and registration forms; ensure accuracy and update records as needed
  • Collect and verify complete demographic, insurance, and guarantor information; ensure all required forms, consents, and financial agreements are properly completed and signed
  • Confirm that required authorizations and referrals are obtained and attached to appointments for the date of service (DOS)
  • Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and outstanding balances at time of service
  • Educate patients regarding financial responsibilities; escalate complex billing and insurance questions to the Site Billing Specialist
  • Evaluate patient financial status and establish payment plans within authorized guidelines
  • Perform accurate insurance verification and interpret benefits; communicate any coverage issues to patients, family members, physicians, and/or leadership
  • Scan and upload all required patient documentation, including ID, insurance cards, referrals, and forms
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate referrals/authorizations with primary care providers (PCP) as needed via CPS
  • Maintain working knowledge of accepted insurance plans
  • Notify patients of provider delays and maintain clear communication in the lobby
  • Maintain accurate and secure cash drawer; perform daily reconciliation and batch closing
  • Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office environment
  • Follow all Front Office Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Demonstrate ongoing competency and knowledge of insurance processes and requirements
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of one (1) year of patient registration experience in a medical office or healthcare setting required
  • Experience with insurance verification, medical terminology, and scheduling systems preferred
  • Previous experience collecting patient payments is a plus
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, including eligibility, benefits, and referral requirements
  • Understanding of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with patients, providers, and team members
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
