Front Office Assistant (Temporary Assignment)
Pay Rate: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Front Office Assistant to support daily operations within a busy healthcare practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service while ensuring efficient front office operations. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to delivering a positive patient experience.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Assist patients with registration, intake forms, and appointment check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and financial responsibility prior to appointments.
  • Collect, process, and accurately receipt patient payments while maintaining balanced daily batches.
  • Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and manage patient appointments according to office protocols.
  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, directing calls to appropriate departments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Monitor patient wait times and communicate delays to patients and clinical staff.
  • Ensure waiting areas and patient-facing spaces remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence, mail, and office materials.
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance plans, coverage requirements, and patient financial obligations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Perform additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn healthcare software systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Previous medical office or healthcare experience.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
