The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing transportation and freight operations across multiple modes, including truckload, LTL, rail, and intermodal. This role ensures freight moves efficiently, cost-effectively, and on schedule while driving strategic improvements across the supply chain. The Logistics Manager serves as a key liaison between customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams, with a strong focus on performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee and manage end-to-end freight operations across truckload, LTL, rail, and intermodal transportation modes.
- Develop and execute logistics strategies to improve service levels, reduce transportation costs, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
- Direct carrier selection, rate negotiation, and capacity planning to ensure optimal transportation solutions.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, customers, and third-party logistics partners.
- Monitor shipment performance, analyze KPIs, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery and service excellence.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex transportation issues, including delays, claims, and service disruptions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, procurement, customer service, and warehouse teams to align logistics with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards, including domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Oversee preparation and accuracy of shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs documentation.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline logistics processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Analyze freight spend and logistics performance data to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive data-informed decisions.
- Manage and support vendor relationships, including performance reviews and contract negotiations.
- Develop and maintain reporting systems for logistics tracking, auditing, and performance visibility.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong expertise in transportation modes including LTL, FTL, rail (short line and Class I), and intermodal shipping.
- Proven experience managing logistics operations, including carrier management and freight optimization.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Sage or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to oversee multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive operational improvements.

Education | Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity preferred.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with domestic and international logistics operations.
