POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for the storage and inventory rotation of frozen seafood products. The employee in this position performs a variety of duties including receiving frozen inventory, inventory control and rotation of frozen products, labeling and weighing of products, preparing inventory reports, pulling orders, and maintaining a clean and organized working area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Checks hand held scanner or hard copy of freezer product orders and pulls orders. Scans the order entry and marks boxes or packages with customer name, number of pieces or pounds and place on racks in chilling room if not labeled already.
- Inspect and verify all incoming frozen goods against invoices and other documents. Check for quality before acceptance and report any shortages or damaged goods to supervisor.
- Practices proper receiving techniques and maintain a high level of freight integrity. Proper inventory rotation; FIFO – Fist In, first out
- Checks to see that certain items are vacuum packed and labeled with the proper weight.
- Ensure that freezer labels are attached to all products such as ID numbers, Lot numbers, case weight, piece weight and case number. Scan the bar code.
- Follow all Safety and House rules and guidelines.
- Ensure that all logs and forms are completed accurately.
- Ensure cleanliness inside and outside of freezer. (Inside-pick up rubbish, take out empty boxes, sweep, and arrange the stock. Outside the freezer- sweep and mop the floor, wipe counters and racks with disinfectant cleaners).
- Perform all other tasks and duties as directed by the Freezer Manager.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Completes the Electric Lift Operator Check-off list daily before operating the Electric Lift.
- Maintains the Electric Lift by charging the battery daily and filling the battery with distilled water as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Six months to one-year work experience in cold storage and/or inventory control preferred.
- Ability to read and write at the 12th grade level, write basic reports, and compute basic math problems.
- Must lift at least 75 pounds.
- Computer skills required in PC.
- TB Clearance.
INTERPERSONAL INTERACTION
This position reports directly to the Frozen Buyer. On a daily basis, the person in this position will interact with employees from various departments within the company. Ability to effectively communicate with employees is an essential part of this position.
