Job Summary:

We are seeking a Temporary Benefits Specialist to provide support during a period of heightened operational demand. This role will collaborate closely with external benefits partners to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant administration of employee benefit programs. Key responsibilities include managing enrollments and terminations, validating system data feeds, processing payroll-related updates, reconciling billing statements, conducting audits, and serving as the primary point of contact between providers and internal teams.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, systems-driven, and capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify employee benefit enrollments, life event changes, and terminations across the HRIS platform and all associated carriers.
  • Monitor and maintain the accuracy of eligibility data feeds between systems, brokers, and insurance carriers; troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Conduct regular audits across HRIS, carrier systems, and internal records to ensure data integrity, accurate payroll deductions, and correct employee coverage.
  • Review, reconcile, and approve monthly benefits invoices; investigate and resolve variances with carriers or brokers to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Support payroll by validating and approving benefits-related payroll changes, including new deductions, adjustments, and retroactive corrections.
  • Act as the primary liaison between internal HR contacts, brokers, and benefits carriers to resolve coverage issues, escalations, and data mismatches.
  • Maintain documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of benefits processes and workflows.
  • Support benefits-related compliance activities within the organization's HR systems.
  • Ensure COBRA notifications are processed accurately and within required compliance timelines.
  • Provide timely, professional support to HR partners and business leaders regarding benefits processes, timelines, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the highest level of professionalism.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or HRIS benefits processing
  • Experience using a major HRIS or benefits administration platform
  • Strong understanding of health, dental, vision, life, disability, and supplemental benefit plans
  • Working knowledge of COBRA requirements and employee eligibility rules
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve data discrepancies
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred:

  • Experience working with brokers or third-party administrators
  • Familiarity with carrier billing, reconciliation processes, and eligibility auditing
  • Experience in a multi-site or manufacturing environment
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CEBS or equivalent)
  • Experience with HRIS system administration
