Foundry Operations Technician

This role is with WM Technologies, LLC, an affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, supporting the Weil-McLain® brand—recognized across North America since 1881 for hydronic comfort heating solutions in residential, commercial, and institutional settings.

A day in this role

You start your shift by preparing the floor: inspecting forklifts, checking molding machinery, and verifying sand systems, flasks, squeeze boards, and mold conditions. As production gets underway, you locate the correct core boxes and rollover plates, set chaplets, position cores, and close molds with precision. You perform pattern and hook changes, align and clamp flasks, and pour molds safely and accurately.

Once the iron has set, you open molds, extract and degate castings, sort out defects, and move product to cleaning or knockout areas. You run blast equipment to remove excess iron and debris, shake out flasks, stack them on the floor, and keep work areas clean. Throughout the shift, you operate overhead cranes and forklifts, adjust setups as conditions change, report irregularities, and lend a hand wherever needed to keep production flowing.

What you’ll do

• Assemble, inspect, and finish cores for boiler components; repair or rework when needed.
• Locate/install core boxes and rollover plates; ensure proper alignment and setup.
• Set chaplets and cores; close molds; clamp flasks; perform precise pouring.
• Open molds; extract and degate castings; transport to cleaning/knockout.
• Sort and dispose of defective castings and gating systems to meet quality standards.
• Operate blast equipment; remove excess iron and debris; support finishing and cleanup.
• Run overhead cranes, forklifts, and molding machinery safely and effectively.
• Inspect/adjust sand systems, flasks, squeeze boards, and mold conditions.
• Set up production floors and machines; conduct forklift inspections; report issues promptly.
• Move and store materials and tools safely; perform additional tasks as directed.

What you bring

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Comfort with basic material calculations.
• Readiness to thrive in a demanding manufacturing environment.
• Previous manufacturing and/or foundry experience (preferred).

Physical demands and environment

• Lift 50–75 lbs as needed.
• Stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
• Use proper PPE and follow safety precautions around machinery and chemicals.
