Forward Deployed Engineer (Sports & Entertainment)
Sweep360
New York, NY
TL;DR — We’re building the defense layer for the AI age and looking for a founding Forward-Deployed Engineer to embed with elite sports, music, and live production environments — identifying and neutralizing real-world cyber-physical threats — and converting those field patterns into scalable product capability.
If you want to invent a new category — not optimize an existing one — this is that role.
Why Sweep?
As intelligent machines proliferate into every part of the physical world, humans still lack a defense layer to ensure the systems and devices they rely on remain aligned with them.
We’re building that layer by deploying Sweep alongside the world’s highest-stakes teams — F1 paddocks, Olympic delegations, global tours, halftime shows, studio lots, executive protection units — in environments where signal is dense, movement is constant, and failure is visible.
These environments are dense with unmanaged devices — rogue Wi-Fi, BLE trackers, smart glasses, sanctioned hardware, robotics, and embedded systems. What we learn there becomes product capability. What we build from that compounds across every deployment.
You'll join a small, talent-dense team with high ownership, high velocity, and low ego. We care deeply, move fast, and are here to build something that outlasts us.
Together, we’ll redefine cyber-physical security for the AI age.
What makes this role special?
- Be our first Forward Deployed Engineer in sports and entertainment.
- Operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and elite team operations.
- Work directly with security directors, league officials, production leads, and crews.
- Deploy in places where RF density, logistics complexity, and reputational risk are extreme.
- Deliver discreetly in high-stakes environments where precision and judgment matter.
- Influence core product roadmap based on what actually breaks in the real world.
What we’re looking for
- 2–5 years working in environments involving real-world cyber-physical risk (Wi-Fi, BLE, rogue access points, IoT, robotics, embedded systems).
- Strong architectural thinking across mobile, backend, data, and infrastructure.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
- Ability to prototype quickly and iterate based on field feedback.
- Engineering fluency — able to reason across software, networks, hardware, and adversarial behavior without supervision.
- Clear communicator — able to translate messy field observations into structured product changes.
- U.S. Person status (may involve export-controlled environments).
Bonus if you’ve
- Worked in elite sports, live production, or national-level events.
- Used SDRs, packet capture, RF survey tools, or similar instrumentation.
- Been forward-deployed or customer-embedded.
- Built automation using LLMs or data-driven workflows.
- Operated in an early-stage, high-ownership startup.
What You’ll Do
- Work directly with customers to understand workflows, constraints, and ground truth.
- Deploy globally for short, high-intensity engagements (~40–50% travel).
- Operate reachback support between deployments — rapidly responding to reported threats and converting those interactions into system improvements that compound globally.
- Diagnose threats on-site, developing countermeasures in real time, and brief stakeholders clearly under pressure.
- Capture patterns and failure modes so improvements scale beyond any single deployment.
- Shape how Forward Deployed Engineering works (rituals, playbooks, org design).
- Contribute to core product strategy and roadmap.
