Forklift Operator / Material Handler

A leading design and fabrication company is seeking a Forklift Operator to support daily material movement, loading, unloading, and staging operations in a steel fabrication environment. The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety-conscious operator with experience handling steel materials and operating large-capacity forklifts in an industrial setting. Working under general supervision, this role plays an important part in supporting production flow, shipment preparation, and safe material handling throughout the facility.

Salary: $18/hr–$20/hr – DOE
Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Hours: Day shift 6:00 am–2:30 pm

Responsibilities:

• Operate forklifts to move, load, and unload steel materials safely and efficiently
• Handle materials ranging from pallets to structural steel angles, beams, and other large steel products
• Support lifts involving materials from approximately 2,000 to 15,000 pounds
• Prepare products and materials for shipment
• Load, unload, and stage products and materials in designated areas
• Track and record units of material handled as required
• Support daily production and warehouse material flow needs
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all company safety and quality procedures at all times

Requirements

• Previous forklift experience in a steel fabrication environment required
• Experience handling steel materials in fabrication, construction, or related industrial settings preferred
• Familiarity with forklifts ranging from 8,000 lb. to 15,000 lb. capacity
• Pallet jack and other industrial vehicle experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
• Ability to work outdoors or in all-weather conditions as needed
• Strong work ethic, reliable transportation, and dependable attendance required
• Ability to handle a physical workload in a fast-paced industrial environment
