Forklift Operator

Job Summary
This position is responsible for operating the forklift to move product and materials around the facility in an efficient manner while adhering to all established safety policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures
- Responsible for loading trucks with the proper tile color and profile, in a timely manner. This consists of getting on and off the forklift consistently throughout the shift.
- Responsible for unloading inner-company transfer trucks, as well as assistance with unloading other shipment materials, in timely manner.
- Responsible for properly completing all shipping and receiving documents. Recording pick sheets/slip changes with product loaded.
- Assistance in maintaining accurate inventory levels; Documenting all scrap material
- Involved in Yearly/Monthly inventory counting/reconciliation.
- Loader is responsible for reviewing all product loads to assure product being shipped meets quality Boral specification (Zero Breakage)
- Responsible for following all safety and environmental protection rules and procedures.
- Must present him/herself in a professional manner to internal/external customers, at all times.
- Adhere to all housekeeping rules and procedures for yard and forklift.
- Responsible for completing Forklift Check Sheet, daily.
- Must be able to work in a non-controlled weather environment (i.e., outside in the heat, cold, etc.,)
- Perform other duties as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic mathematical skills (i.e. ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
- Good communication skills
- Team player, reliable and high work ethic
Education and/or Experience
- Able to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions, required.
- High School Diploma preferred
- 1 year of related experience
Equipment and Special Materials
- Forklift, mixers, air driven pumps, moisture balance and dust collector system.
Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
- Prolong standing or in stationary position
- Complete repetitive movements
- Bend and/or twist
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
$22.72 per hour
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The pay range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be offered as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
