Job description:

Forest Manor Health and Rehab in Northport, AL actively seeking a FT Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our in-house therapy team!

Areas of treatment may include:

  • Functional independence: eating, bathing, toileting, homemaking, cooking, etc.
  • Maintenance of wellness: dressing and grooming
  • Prevention of further disability: home assessments and modifications, adaptive equipment
  • Increasing safety awareness

Responsibilities:

  • plan treatment to residents and patients with temporary or long term disabilities to relieve pain, restore or improve function, and promote healing
  • Assure all treatment is delivered in accordance with an established plan of care
  • Provide clinical support and instruct patients, families, and caregivers
  • Monitor patient response to treatment intervention
  • Complete required forms and documentation in accordance with company policy and state/federal regulations
  • Consulting with patients to learn about their physical condition.
  • Assessing and interpreting patient evaluations and test results.
  • Developing treatment plans using a variety of treatment techniques.
  • Creating personalized fitness-oriented health care programs for patients.
  • Administering medically prescribed physical therapy treatments to relieve pain and improve mobility.
  • Advising patients on exercise techniques.
  • Advising patients and their families about in-home treatment options.
  • Providing educational information about injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote physical health.
  • Consulting and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Documenting patient care history.
  • Complying with rules, regulations, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Proficient in patient care and medical terminology
  • Experience in discharge planning and developing care plans
  • Familiarity with geriatric population
