The Hoosier Company is seeking a hands-on Foreman to lead field crews in the safe and efficient execution of roadway lighting, traffic signal, ITS, signage, and related infrastructure projects. This position combines skilled craft work with field leadership. The Foreman is responsible for supervising craft workers, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract specifications and company standards.
Essential Functions
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements and complete daily Job Hazard Analysis and Toolbox Talks
Ensure utility locates are completed prior to work
Monitor jobsite conditions and immediately report incidents
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Supervise craft personnel and lead daily field operations
Manage small to medium projects or defined scopes within larger projects
Plan daily work activities, manpower, materials, and equipment needs
Monitor productivity and workmanship to ensure quality and efficiency
Complete accurate daily reports
Ensure proper use and care of company equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials
Secure all company assets at the end of each workday
Communicate daily with the Operations Manager and Project Manager regarding progress and issues
Maintain positive working relationships with customers and vendors
Proactively identify and help resolve scheduling conflicts or field challenges
Mentor and develop field personnel
Promote strong workmanship standards and accountability

Education Qualifications
High School or Equivalent required
Experience Qualifications
Experience with INDOT traffic signals, lighting, ITS, and signs
Proven field leadership and crew supervision experience
Working knowledge of OSHA requirements. OHSA 30 Hour training preferred
IMSA Traffic Signal Construction Technician Level II. Preferred but not required
IMSA or ATSSA Work Zone Technician & Flagging certifications. Preferred but not required

Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Strong organizational and communication skills
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization
Excellent communication skills
Licenses and Certifications
Valid driver's license and ability to remain qualified for company vehicle program required
Class A CDL preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Frequent travel to active traffic signals, roadway signs, roadway lighting and intelligent transportation systems projects across project regions
Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
Regular exposure to high-traffic areas, construction equipment, noise, and uneven terrain, requiring situational awareness and adherence to all safety procedures
Routine movement around job sites, including walking, standing, bending, climbing, and navigating rough surfaces
Occasional need to lift or carry materials and job-related documents
Frequent in-person coordination with field teams, requiring presence on job sites as needed to support operations
Ability to drive to and from project sites, meetings, vendors, and other work locations
Periodic extended hours during peak project phases to meet deadlines or respond to field needs
