About the Role:

The Foreman Dirtwork position is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of earthmoving and site preparation activities on construction projects. The primary goal is to ensure that dirtwork operations are executed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications and timelines. This role involves managing a team of equipment operators and laborers, directing daily tasks, and maintaining quality control throughout the excavation, grading, and soil compaction processes. The Foreman will serve as the key point of communication between field crews, project managers, and subcontractors to facilitate smooth workflow and resolve any onsite issues promptly. Ultimately, the Foreman Dirtwork ensures that the groundwork is properly prepared to support subsequent construction phases, contributing to the overall success of the project.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years of experience in dirtwork or heavy civil construction with demonstrated leadership responsibilities Proven ability to operate and supervise the use of heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and graders Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction site safety practices Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in heavy equipment operation or construction management Experience with GPS and laser-guided grading technology Familiarity with environmental regulations related to soil erosion and sediment control First Aid and CPR certification Previous experience working on large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects

Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate daily dirtwork operations, including excavation, grading, trenching, and soil compaction Manage and lead a crew of equipment operators and laborers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies Interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to guide the team in executing tasks accurately and efficiently Monitor equipment usage and maintenance needs, coordinating repairs or replacements to minimize downtime Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to report progress, challenges, and resource requirements Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with environmental and safety regulations Train and mentor crew members to improve skills, productivity, and safety awareness Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and labor hours for reporting and billing purposes
