This recruitment will be used to fill part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and a maximum of 40 hours per week during academic breaks) Lab Assistant positions for the OSU-Cascades Functional Orthopedic Research Center of Excellence (FORCE) Laboratory.
The OSU-Cascades FORCE Lab seeks motivated research assistants for the fields of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and physical activity.
The applicant will collaborate with the core faculty in the FORCE Lab from the Kinesiology and Doctoral of Physical Therapy programs in a multifaceted role encompassing a range of research activities and laboratory management. Responsibilities include human subject data collection, data analysis and management, equipment maintenance, multi-project coordination, presenting research, research paper review and synthesis, and supply organization.
In addition, the research assistant contributes to 1) instructional support in teaching by guiding volunteer students through experimental procedures, reinforcing proper techniques, and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment, 2) administrative support in demonstrating FORCE lab capabilities to tour groups and future students. Strong attention to detail, adherence to research protocols, and effective communication are essential.
This position provides hands-on experience in applied biomechanics, exercise physiology, and physical activity, helping to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical research and clinical applications.

Position Duties
This position supports all laboratory activities.
75% - Research support which includes human subject data collection, data analysis and management, equipment maintenance, multi-project coordination, presenting research, research paper review and synthesis, and supply organization.
25% - administrative support which includes 1) instructional support in teaching assisting with lab courses and by guiding volunteer students through experimental procedures, reinforcing proper techniques, and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment, 2) administrative support in demonstrating FORCE lab capabilities to tour groups and future students.
Other duties as needed to support laboratory functions.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Experience in clinical (e.g. physical therapy aid) or athletic setting (e.g. coaching or personal training).
An interest in human movement and physiology research
First aid and CPR certification
Ability to complete human participants ethics training within 1 week of hiring.
