GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Come join the Wyoming Department of Corrections. The Wyoming State Penitentiary is currently seeking a Food Services Supervisor. This position will oversee inmate workers and staff in the preparation and processing of food, and the maintenance, safety, and sanitation of the food service, and teach inmates job skills to help prepare them for re-entry into the community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.

  • Trains and supervises a staff of Food Service Specialists to assure large-scale food production on a given shift.
  • Schedules food service staff, supervises, and directs the work of subordinate staff.
  • Assures compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Assists with menu and recipe development; provides nutritious menus, diabetic diets, and other medical and religious diets as required.
  • Analyzes recipes/menus to meet the USDA guidelines for nutrition.
  • Develops and maintains institutional food service policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for overall maintenance, security, sanitation, and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Responsible for safety and sanitation training of workers under their supervision and documentation of this training.
  • Responsible for timekeeping and refrigeration logs, sanitation records, and production schedules.

Qualifications KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of supervisory methods.
  • Knowledge of budget and procurement practices and policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Substitution:

  • 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Food Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Food Services Specialist

  • Bachelors Degree (typically in Culinary Arts)

  • 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Food Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Food Services Specialist

Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Applicants must have the physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Applicants must be able to remain on their feet for long periods of time.
  • Applicants must be able to walk on hard, uneven, and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, stretching
