REPORTS TO: Director of Food Service

LOCATION: Nashua High School South (Station)

Bicentennial Elementary School

Charlotte Avenue Elementary School

Ledge Street Elementary School

SUPERVISES: Food Service Staff at Assigned Schools

COORDINATES W/: Building Principals, Program Coordinators/Directors Public Agencies, City Officials

WORK YEAR: 196 Work Days (180 School Days; additional days in August and June)

SALARY RANGE: Competitive Salary and Benefits under the NASAS contract

The Site-Coordinator is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of a cluster of school-based food service operations, including the supervision and evaluation of Food Service staff.

Principal Duties:

Personnel:

  • Manages multiple school-based kitchen staff.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and trains school personnel.
  • Recommends to the Director the appointment, termination, transfer, and scheduling of food service personnel.
  • Arranges for substitutes.

Purchasing-Inventory:

  • Writes monthly menu for secondary school in compliance with USDA Child Nutrition standards.
  • Prepares food and supply orders by school site.
  • Maintains daily inventory of food and supplies by school site.
  • Submits monthly inventory report to Director by school site.

Program Accountability:

  • Insures that safety and health standards at school kitchens are in compliance with local, state, and federal standards. Documents all such compliance issues.
  • Maintains integrity and accountability of the Child Nutrition Program through compliance with all federal, state and local regulations at individual schools.
  • Assures proper collection and deposit of cafeteria receipts from cluster of schools.
  • Insures that student and staff accounts are kept accurate.
  • Responsible for meeting budgetary goals by school site.
  • Provides a safe environment conducive to protecting the health and well being of the school's children through high levels of sanitation standards.

Customer Service:

  • Provides leadership to ensure school meals will be served in pleasant facilities and by a courteous staff.
  • Offers students a wide variety of quality meals that meet or exceed requirements for nutrition and customer satisfaction.
  • Serves as a resource person for student and PTO activities. Provides services related to health/nutrition when requested by Principal or Director.
  • Coordinate the food preparation, service and delivery of the Federal Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant Program.
  • Handle Red Cross Shelter arrangements for food service as needed or requested.
  • Performs other duties pertaining to food services and attends food service meetings as required.

Minimum Requirements:

Two-years experience in quantity food preparation and school nutrition programs; one-year administrative/supervisory responsibility desirable. Knowledge of local, state and federal statutes pertaining to school lunch/breakfast requirements; operation and care of kitchen equipment; keyboard skills and computer literacy desirable. Must be physically capable of performing duties, which include the ability to walk, bend, and stand for long periods of time. Lift and carry objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to work with a variety of food service and cleaning related products. Must have personal automobile or truck available during workday.
