    Job Description:

    Food Service Cashier position. This is a 6 hour per day, Monday - Friday, 10 month position following the school calendar.

    The Food Service Cashier performs cashiering, recordkeeping, and food service duties while providing excellent customer service to students and staff. The position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fas paced school cafeteria environment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Other duties may be assigned.

    • Operate the computerized point of sale system to process meal transactions.
    • Collect and accurately account for meal payments and maintain daily cash receipts.
    • Complete daily deposits, cashier reports, and other required documentation.
    • Assist with meal service, including portioning, preparing, and serving food items as assigned.
    • Maintain inventory records for a la carte items, beverages, milk, ice cream, condiments, and other assigned items.
    • Assist with ordering and stocking inventory.
    • Reconcile daily inventory and sales information on required production records.
    • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas, equipment, and serving areas.
    • Follow all food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and health department guidelines, including temperature monitoring requirements.
    • Maintain positive public relations with students, staff, families, and the school community.
    • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and in service activities as required.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this position, employees must be able to:

    • Stand at an assigned workstation for extended periods of time.
    • Operate kitchen, serving, and computer equipment.
    • Lift, carry, move, and put away food, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds as needed.
    • Work effectively in a fast paced school food service environment.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to work effectively with food service employees, staff, and students.
    • Ability to accurately count money and perform basic mathematical calculations.
    • Ability to operate a computer terminal and learn POS software.
    • Ability to follow directions and maintain accurate records.
    • Previous cashier, food service, or customer service experience preferred.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a positive customer service environment.
    • Willingness to travel between district schools if required.
