Purpose of Announcement EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY ACTIONS PROGRAMS AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.

Kind of Work Performs administrative and supervisory dietary work in running the day to day operations of a kitchen located in a departmental center where the food service program is conducted. Supervises the preparation of meals and snacks according to the approved menu cycle and standardized recipes that are appropriate for the age group and in compliance with CACFP child meal pattern and Louisiana sanitation code for food safety procedures.

This position manages and supervises the Child Nutrition staff in maintaining kitchen, pantry, cafeteria, and equipment in a clean, organized, safe, and sanitary manner. Prepares and submits food and supply orders to the HC, verifies accuracy of deliveries, promptly and properly stores food items and supplies. Conducts monthly inventory checks and checks inventory regularly to ensure availability of foods needed to follow menu cycle. Maintains accurate daily records (i.e., meal production sheets, meal count sheets, etc.) in order to complete and submit paperwork on time and in accordance with CACFP requirements. Performs other duties and assignments related to job as required or assigned.

May be required to work at other Jeff CAP locations parish wide. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid drivers license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

NOTE: Employee must obtain the ServSafe Manager certification within six (6) months of employment.

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination Meets one of the following options: I. Advanced (approx. four years), paid, food service experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen. OR II. Possession of a career/technical program diploma or certificate in culinary arts/management (or closely related); plus, considerable (approx. three years), paid, food service experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen. OR III. Possession of an accredited Associates degree in culinary arts/management (or closely related); plus, substantial (approx. two years), paid, food service experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.

Preferred: Food service experience in a supervisory capacity and possession of a ServSafe Manager certification are preferred.

Note: Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (LA R.S.15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.

Kind of Examination (ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL) The examination will consist of a rating of training and experience. JEFFERSON PARISH CIVIL SERVICE BENEFITS

Vacation (Annual Leave) Employees accumulate one half day of paid vacation for every two weeks worked. Leave accrual rates increase with years of service. Any unused annual leave is usually paid upon separation from Parish Employment.

Sick Leave Employees accumulate one half day of paid sick leave for every two weeks worked. Sick leave is available for personal illness, injury or medical consultations.

Holidays Nine paid official holidays are observed, plus any holidays declared by Parish Officials.

Life Insurance All regular employees receive a life insurance policy equal to one years salary. Extra insurance may be purchased.

Medical Insurance An HMO medical insurance plan is avalable for employees and their dependents. Jefferson Parish pays 80% of the premium for employees and 50% of the premiums for dependents.

A Flexible Benefits Plan Employees have the opportunity to save money by paying for healthinsurance and optional insurance with pre-tax dollars. A Flexible SavingsAccount for Medical Expenses and Dependent Care is also available.

Retirement Most regular employees belong to the Parochial Employees RetirementSystem instead of the Social Security System. For employees hired after January 01, 2007, a pension calculated at 3% of salary per year of service is provided upon retirement at age 67 with 7 years of service, age 62 with 10 years of service, or age 55 with 30 years of service.

Tenure Payment Employees are paid $25 per year of service in December of each year. Employees must have worked two years before the first check is paid.

Deferred Compensation Plan (457b plan) Similar to 401K programs, the 457b Deferred Plan allows employees to defer up to $14,000 of pretax income each year to supplement retirement savings. Pre-tax contributions can be cashed in upon retirement or termination without penalty. This plan is provided by Nationwide Retirement Solutions 1-877-677-3678.

Special leaves of absence for military service, maternity leave, etc. may be granted in accordance with the Personnel Rules.
