Position Overview:
  • Manages Patient Meal Service food production, tray assembly, delivery / pick-up, which includes nourishment / unit supplies delivery to the patient floors and galley operations.
  • Also, is responsible for kitchen sanitation required by regulatory agencies.
  • Works with the Executive Chef on matters of menus and overall patient food quality.
  • Exemplifies the Client mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Client policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages the production, assembly and distribution process for patient meal service, patient nourishments, nursing unit supplies, and galley operations.
  • Manages all staff assigned to patient meal service area.
  • Assists with continued development of computerized systems within the department as part of the senior management team.
  • Identifies and takes corrective action for patient satisfaction issues related to meal distribution.
  • Manages daily and monthly documentation and reporting of patient service QC and QI as assigned using problem solving techniques.
  • Works with Executive Chef to ensure that patient food quality meets department standards.
  • Ensures that hospital and department policies, procedures and standards are maintained.
  • Oversees that Central Kitchen in-services, performance appraisals, time and attendance records, counseling and disciplines for assigned employees and supervisors are accurate and completed within established deadlines.
  • Prepares and submits department reports accurately within established deadlines.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively managing staffing and supply resources.
  • Assists in the development of learning experiences for dietetic interns; acts as preceptor for internship rotations; acts as a role model for students by demonstrating professional competence.
  • Collaborates well with the other units within Food and Nutrition Services and with other departments throughout the Medical Center Manager, Patient Meal Services / 2.
  • Actively participates on the Food and Nutrition senior management team and attends and contributes to departmental meetings.
  • Manages department projects as assigned.
  • Supports and adheres to the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values expressed by "ICARE " (Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence).

Required Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Food and Nutrition, Food Systems Management, Hotel / Restaurant Management, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, six years of directly related experience can be used for minimum qualification on education.
  • Illinois Department of Public Health and City of Chicago Sanitation Certification required within three months of hire.
  • Competent in computer use for managing food service operations.
  • Self-directed, strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem identification and solving, creative, manage stress effectively.

Job Duration: 13 weeks to 3 months to hire

Pay Rate: $65 / Hour
