PRIMARY FUNCTION: To assist the FoodService Manager in providing breakfast, lunch, and/or after school snacks to students in a safe and sanitary work environment.
PAY RATE: $12.50 per hour.
REPORTS TO: Food Service Manager and School Principal
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Practice sanitary procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment, and food service. Practice good personal hygiene and habits to assure that sanitation standards are met.
- Follow standards of safety in preparing, storing and serving food.
- Follow the Manager's instructions producing, holding, and serving food.
- Participate in daily operations that may include, but not limited to, any or all of the following activities: food production, meal service, meal tray and cooking utensil washing in automatic dish machine, hand washing of cooking utensils in a 4-compartment sink, cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces and dining room tables, and sweeping and mopping of kitchen and dining room floors.
- Maintain inventories, including putting away or taking out, in storage areas as instructed.
- Clean production, service and dining areas, equipment and floors as designated by the Manager.
- Maintain required forms and records as assigned by the Manager.
- Follow procedures in personnel matters including work time documentation, leave, reporting of injuries, grievance, etc.
- Maintain a pleasant working relationship with co-workers, students, school staff and the school community.
- Assist Manager in implementing cost containment measures while maintaining quality products.
- Participate in implementing promotion of special school and community activities consistent with Board policy.
- Attend job-related training classes and workshops.
- Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be able to read and interpret recipes.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: None.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift and carry up to 40 lbs..
- Stand on feet four or more hours per day.
- Work in an extremely hot, cold, and noisy environment.
- Work with and around potentially dangerous food preparation equipment.
- Lift 15 to 20 lbs. to shoulder height numerous times per day.
