Reports to: COO / Corporate Leadership
Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree and/or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, food safety, compliance, or related food industry operations. Experience working in a GFSI certified facility is required.(BRC) Bakery, frozen food, ready-to-eat food, food distribution, or perishable food manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
Food Safety, Quality, and Compliance
Serve as the on-site Food Safety, Quality, and Compliance representative for Cyril’s Foods at the Ohio bakery facility.
Oversee and support food safety, quality assurance, quality control, and compliance activities at the plant level.
Help ensure the facility operates in compliance with applicable food safety regulations, customer requirements, internal company standards, and GFSI expectations.
Lead and maintain GFSI readiness, including documentation, audit preparation, internal reviews, corrective actions, and ongoing compliance follow-up.
Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety programs, including HACCP or HARPC, GMPs, sanitation, allergen control, traceability, recall readiness, supplier approval, preventive controls, and related programs.
Review and monitor production records, sanitation records, temperature logs, receiving documentation, batch records, lot coding, finished product documentation, and other quality records.
Identify compliance gaps, quality concerns, or food safety risks and communicate findings to plant leadership and Cyril’s Foods corporate leadership.
Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions related to food safety, quality, production, and compliance matters.
Support product inspections, production checks, finished goods reviews, hold and release decisions, nonconformance reviews, and product disposition.
Ensure products meet approved specifications, customer expectations, labeling requirements, storage requirements, and applicable food safety standards.
Create, review, and sign off on product specification sheets, Nutrition Facts Tables/Panels, labels, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and related compliance documentation.
Customer Complaints and Quality Investigations
Assist with customer complaint investigations related to products produced at the facility or by other copackers
Collect and review production documentation, traceability records, lot information, photos, quality records, and plant findings needed to support complaint responses.
Help prepare clear investigation summaries, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
Track recurring complaint trends and help identify opportunities for process improvement.
Communicate quality or compliance concerns in a timely and professional manner to the appropriate internal stakeholders.
Manufacturing and Distribution Support
Support the facility in understanding and meeting the requirements of commercial food manufacturing and food distribution.
Assist with compliance requirements related to frozen bakery products, shelf life, storage, shipping, temperature control, labeling, lot coding, and traceability.
Work with production, warehouse, sanitation, maintenance, logistics, and leadership teams to ensure product is manufactured, stored, handled, and prepared for shipment according to customer and regulatory expectations.
Help ensure documentation and operational practices support customer audits, regulatory inspections, distributor requirements, and national account compliance expectations.
Training, Process Improvement, and Corporate Communication
Partner with plant & corporate leadership to reinforce food safety culture, documentation discipline, quality awareness, and compliance accountability.
Train and support plant employees on GMPs, food safety procedures, quality expectations, documentation requirements, and customer-specific requirements as needed.
Provide regular updates to Cyril’s Foods corporate leadership regarding plant compliance status, audit readiness, quality issues, customer complaint activity, and operational risks.
Serve as a trusted on-site resource and escalation point for food safety, quality, compliance, and customer requirement matters.
Assist with the creation, revision, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, forms, logs, and related compliance tools.
Competencies required/preferred:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, food safety, quality assurance, compliance, or related food industry operations.
Experience working in a GFSI certified facility is required.
Knowledge of GFSI audit schemes such as SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, or similar.
HACCP, PCQI, BRC Trained, SQF Practitioner, or similar food safety certification preferred.
Experience in bakery, frozen food, ready-to-eat food, perishable food manufacturing, or food distribution preferred.
Strong understanding of GMPs, sanitation, allergen control, traceability, recall readiness, preventive controls, supplier approval, documentation control, and corrective action processes.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable working in a small plant environment where the role may require both leadership and hands-on support.
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with documentation.
Active listening and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally with plant employees, leadership, corporate office, customers, auditors, and regulatory representatives as needed.
Strong critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Ability to identify risk, escalate concerns, and recommend practical solutions.
Flexible and able to multitask in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Tech-savvy with the ability to adapt to company systems and strong experience using Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and related applications.
Must live in Ohio or be willing to relocate within reasonable driving distance of the Ohio facility.
Working Environment: On-site food manufacturing and bakery facility environment. Occasional remote work, customer meetings, audit support, or travel may be required based on business needs.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
