The Food Runner – Cielo is responsible for delivering food and beverage orders accurately and promptly to guests in a fine dining environment. This role supports the service team by ensuring efficient coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house, maintaining clean and well-stocked service stations, and contributing to an exceptional guest experience with professionalism, urgency, and attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers food and beverage items to guests using pivot point system to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assists in maintaining proper serving techniques and ensures guest satisfaction during every interaction.
  • Busses, cleans, and resets tables as needed to support overall floor operations.
  • Stocks and maintains cleanliness and organization of assigned service stations throughout the shift.
  • Prepares sides, sauces, and garnishes to accompany dishes as directed by kitchen staff.
  • Communicates effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service flow.
  • Adheres to all health and safety standards, including food handling procedures and sanitation guidelines.
  • Verifies guest identification to ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and adheres to all ABC regulations, RBS training standards, and internal policies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced, guest-facing role.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
  • High regard for guest service and hospitality excellence.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional coursework in hospitality or food service is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a high-volume or fine dining food service environment.
  • Familiarity with basic food handling procedures, plating standards, and table service etiquette.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and guest satisfaction.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with servers and kitchen staff.
  • Prior experience in an upscale restaurant, resort, or casino dining venue is preferred.
  • Must meet all health and safety regulations and food handler requirements.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and courteously with servers, kitchen staff, and guests; responsible for relaying guest requests, confirming orders, and supporting a seamless flow of service.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries large trays, plates, and food items weighing up to 40 pounds; must be able to safely balance and transport multiple dishes at once.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regularly uses hands and arms to carry trays, place dishes, handle service tools, and assist with resetting tables or polishing silverware.
  • Mobility: Continuously moves throughout the kitchen, dining area, and service stations; requires walking, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods during shift.
  • Stationary Work: Rarely stationary; must maintain near-constant movement in support of service staff and kitchen operations.
  • Tool Operation: Occasional use of tray stands, polishing cloths, and standard food service tools; may operate basic kitchen or service equipment as needed.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires close vision to inspect plates for accuracy, monitor table status, and ensure proper placement and presentation of dishes.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in a fast-paced, high-end restaurant environment with exposure to warm kitchens, food and beverage handling, and moderate to high noise levels. Regular exposure to a smoking environment when passing through designated casino or guest service areas.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
