Description

Summary:

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the kitchen and/or dining room. Performs such duties as preparing bread and butter, sandwiches, beverages; dishes up salads and desserts; prepares individual servings of cold cereal, fruit juice, salads, etc., as needed. Sets up and delivers food carts or trays to dining room; serves residents; sets up food trays according to diet cards. Places silverware, glassware, and dishes on trays or tables; portions food. Scrapes food from soiled dishes, stacks and transports them to the dish machine area. Carries and disposes of garbage; performs cleaning tasks on equipment, floors, walls and related areas. Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and other related criteria appropriate population in his/her assigned area
  • Maintains required core competencies.
  • Complies with set Policies and Procedures (i.e. name tag, dress code, parking, smoking, etc.)
  • Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of GCRMC.
  • Contributes to positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in partner morale and performance and communicating then to the management team.
  • Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients and co-workers. Is responsive to customer needs.
  • Conscientiously completes all daily cleaning assignments.
  • Adheres to all sanitation procedures.
  • Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains compliance with GCRMC standards of operation. Adheres to GCRMC Business Conduct Policy at all times. Maintains all records and reports to ensure compliance, with all local, state and federal regulations and codes.
  • Performs various cleaning activities to maintain department sanitation standards. These may include:
  • Scraping, washing, rinsing, sanitizing, and storing all pots, pans, sheet pans, utensils and small equipment,
  • Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing department floors,
  • Cleaning Ice machines
  • Sets up and maintains assigned work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner to facilitate efficiency and ensure food safety.
  • Provides additional services to enhance customer service.
  • Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of patient/resident population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient/resident population.
  • Delivers food carts to certain patient units which require nursing staff to deliver trays.
  • Gathers trash for the entire department and removing it to the trash compactor.
  • Removing and setting up cafeteria, and Doctor's Dining Room tables and chairs for carpet cleaning and for special catered events.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current American Heart –Basic Life Support (BLS)card.
  • Certification: Food Handler certification from an ANSI-accredited organization. (Must have within 30 days of employment).
  • Performs related responsibilities as assigned.
