POSITION SUMMARY

Provides leadership and direction to the high school kitchen staff, working closely with the Production Manager, the Packing Coordinator, the Cooks, and the Cafeteria Coordinators. Successfully bridge back-of-house with front-of-house operations and provide communication and stability between the two.

Provides administrative assistance to various department-wide programs and initiatives, while promoting the School Nutrition Program. Assist and/or fill-in as Production Manager and Packing Coordinators when needed. Occasionally asked to fill other rolls across the district as needed, in different capacities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Promote the School Nutrition Program through engagement and various forms of communication
  2. Work in collaboration with kitchen staff to assist in production
  3. Implement menus and recipes and assure proper execution of preparation and cooking of items
  4. Assist in production and planning production forecasting
  5. Assist Director about food shortages and/or substitutions
  6. Consolidate and collect production materials or forms; reviewing for accuracy and providing retraining when appropriate
  7. Support in and assist in hiring new kitchen staff members
  8. Provide training and support for all new employees
  9. Work in collaboration with other office staff and provide support during special projects
  10. Facilitate and maintain an efficient and effective kitchen

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide direction and guidance in absence of Production Manager
  2. Provide input on menu creation assist in planning for special menu events
  3. Assume duties of other staff members on an occasional or temporary basis
  4. Perform other duties as assigned which are fairly within the scope of duties normally performed by kitchen and cafeteria staff members
