Position Summary:
Ophthalmic Specialist of Michigan (OSM) is currently hiring a full-time Fluorescein Angiography Technician to work at their Dearborn and Livonia offices. This is a day-shift Monday through Friday.
A Fluorescein Angiography Technician, is responsible for performing and assisting with fluorescein angiography procedures. This involves capturing high-quality images of the retina using specialized imaging equipment, preparing patients, and collaborating with ophthalmologists. The technician also plays a role in patient education, documentation, and maintaining equipment.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing Angiography: This includes capturing images using fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography, which involves injecting a dye and photographing the retinal blood vessels.
- Patient Preparation: Explaining the procedure to patients, addressing concerns, and ensuring their comfort and safety during the process.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operating and maintaining specialized retinal imaging equipment like fundus cameras.
- Collaboration and Analysis: Working with ophthalmologists to analyze angiographic images and contribute to diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Documentation: Accurately recording patient information and test results.
- Quality Control: Ensuring high-quality images and adhering to safety protocols.
- Training and Support: Assisting with the training of new staff and participating in research or clinical trials.
Qualifications:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of fluorescein angiography and other retinal imaging techniques.
- Equipment Expertise: Ability to operate and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment.
- Anatomical Knowledge: Understanding of retinal anatomy and pathology.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in image capture, documentation, and quality control.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
In addition to the core responsibilities, a solid understanding of various retinal diseases and conditions is often necessary.
