Position Title: Flight Readiness Technician Inspector (Level C)
Location: Charleston, SC – 100% Onsite
Schedule: Variable Shifts (must be available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts; assignment set at onboarding)
Contract Length: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $45/hr
Start Date: 6/27/2025

Role Overview

The Flight Readiness Technician Inspector (FRTI) will support the 787 fleet by performing verification and inspection of final component installation and system functional validation testing. This role ensures all rework, modifications, preflight, and post-flight activities meet the highest standards of aircraft safety and quality.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to working safely in a live aircraft flight line environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform verification and inspection of flight component installations and aircraft system functional testing.

  • Inspect and verify troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and avionics systems; document faulty components.

  • Conduct inspections of pre-flight and post-flight checks, as well as maintenance and modifications prior to delivery.

  • Document issues identified during aircraft operation and testing.

  • Support system and sub-system pre-delivery inspections and maintenance inspections.

  • Create non-conformance records with minimal assistance.

  • Plan and schedule work activities independently with guidance as needed.

  • Maintain all required certifications to perform assigned duties.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Ability to work any shift (days, nights, weekends).

  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing.

  • 3+ years of experience in quality inspection and/or auditing.

  • 3+ years of experience in flight line operations.

  • 3+ years of experience working in a team environment.

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • FAA Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) License or signed FAA Form 8610-2 (required).


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Experience on the 787 Program.

  • Knowledge of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) risk management.

  • Team leadership experience (formal or informal).

  • Proficiency with REDARS, PSDS, and related specifications.

  • Experience generating and managing Non-Conformance Records (NCRs) and Emergent Process Documents (EPDs).


Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED and at least 4 years of related work experience; OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., vocational school/Associate + 2 years, Bachelor's degree, etc.).


Additional Requirements

  • Export Control Compliance: Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

  • Drug-Free Workplace: This is a safety-sensitive position subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing.

  • Shift Work Statement: Variable shift assignment will be determined at hire and may change based on business needs.

  • Training Requirement: Successful completion of OJT or formal classroom training is a contingency of assignment.

  • Attendance: Regular and predictable attendance is required.
