POSITION SUMMARY: The Fleet Services Manager is responsible for directing and organizing activities related to the procurement, servicing, operation and maintenance and repair of all company vehicles. Plans, directs, and implements corporate initiatives including safety policies and procedures and regulatory compliance.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Directs preventative and demand maintenance programs of company vehicles.
  • Ensure the profitability of every unit by managing exception reporting and proactively identifying issues such as: missed warranty opportunities excessive running and fixed costs, missing incorrect vehicle specifications.
  • Through established KPI’s designed to deliver top functional performance, tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, and compliance.
  • Maintain department operations within the guidelines of the Fleet Services Department.
  • Audits maintenance work practices and identification of methods to improve safety, compliance, and reliability of the fleet.
  • Supports the maintenance and operation of the fleet maintenance system.
  • Assures vehicles and personnel comply with established laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, including but not limited to: OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, and other Federal, State County and City agencies.
  • Procures company vehicles, research and evaluate new vehicles and coordinates the purchasing and optimal pricing and quality for vehicles of the company.
  • Disposal of retired assets.
  • Directs inventory and coordinate equipment, materials and supplies to assure adequate equipment and material to meet maintenance needs.
  • Investigates complaints received on vehicle conditions and equipment failure.
  • Directs, maintains, enforces the safety program for the Fleet Services Department.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of maintenance personnel as required.
  • Recruit, organize, train, develop, lead, motivate, direct the efforts and manage the performance of the employees comprising the Maintenance Department.
  • Cultivate and foster a team environment, establish team and individual performance goals aligned with company goals, monitor progress toward the completion of these goals and bridge performance gaps in a timely manner, ensuring excellent workforce productivity and achievement of all or most of Company's goals and objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with fleet support functions; including maintenance, operations, support services, and competitive business requirements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various organizational levels
  • Computer literate and able to effectively use relevant information systems
  • Experience effectively managing exempt and non-exempt staff
  • Ability to travel
  • Precise problem solving and analytical skills

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Operations or related field preferred.
  • Years of Experience: 7-10 years of Operations or Fleet Management experience required.
  • Non-Excepted, interstate Class A or B CDL preferred.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND SOFTWARE USED:

  • Usual office equipment including computer, phone, fax machine, copier, and calculator.
  • MS Office suite
  • Company system applications (Computer Ease, SalesForce, or similar financial systems)
  • Other software as applicable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Client operations sites
  • Travel to multiple customer sites
  • Usual office environment

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to organize various office systems through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending or folding for the purpose of proper records development and/or management
  • Ability to use a computer and related devices, such as a keyboard or mouse or other related equipment, throughout the workday while seated at a desk or workstation
