FLEET MANAGER

The Fleet Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, lifecycle management, compliance, and cost optimization of the company's vehicle fleet across all operating regions. This role governs a multi-million-dollar rolling asset portfolio and ensures fleet operations align with enterprise safety, financial, and operational objectives.

The Fleet Manager provides centralized accountability for vehicle procurement, utilization, maintenance standards, regulatory compliance, insurance coordination, and replacement planning. This role transitions fleet oversight from administrative coordination to enterprise asset governance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years managing fleet operations or comparable asset-intensive portfolio
  • Experience in multi-state regulatory compliance (DOT/IFTA)
  • Strong financial acumen and cost analysis capability

Preferred:

  • Experience within construction or heavy equipment environments
  • Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with fleet management systems

CORE RESPONSIBLITIES:

Fleet Governance & Strategy

  • Develop and maintain enterprise fleet standards and policies.
  • Establish lifecycle replacement planning models.
  • Standardize vehicle specifications across operating units
  • Assign fleet strategy with company growth plans.

Asset Lifecycle Management

  • Oversee procurement, deployment, reassignment, and disposal of fleet vehicles.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) and cost-per-mile performance.
  • Optimize replacement timing to balance depreciation and maintenance risk.

Financial Oversight

  • Manage annual fleet budget (lease, fuel, maintenance, insurance).
  • Identify cost leakage and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leverage purchasing power for volume pricing and vendor negotiations.

Risk & Delivery Strategy Leadership

  • Lead early evaluation of delivery models from an execution and risk standpoint.
  • Surface operational risk including site constraints, schedule drivers, sequencing exposure, safety considerations, workforce availability, and quality risk.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and Operations to structure agreements that support field success.
  • Provide executive recommendations on go/no-go decisions grounded in operational feasibility and enterprise capacity.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with DOT, IFTA, state registration, and emissions requirements.
  • Coordinate with Risk Management and Insurance on claims analysis.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance compliance rates.
  • Coordinate with Operating Unit management for mileage adherence

Performance & Data Visibility

  • Implement reporting tools.
  • Track utilization, fuel efficiency, and maintenance trends.
  • Provide executive reporting dashboards.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with leasing companies, OEMs, maintenance vendors.
  • Serve as primary fleet subject matter expert to Operations and Finance.
  • Support field leadership with vehicle allocation and planning decisions.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute as a member of the Field Operations team, collaborating to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Participate in company, project, and industry events; represent McGough professionally and serve as a positive ambassador.
  • Attend company and project meetings and pursue ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and organizational success.
  • Other duties as assigned

OFFICE AND TRAVEL:

Office: Based in Roseville at Headquarters and could be hybrid.

Travel: Periodic travel requirements to regional or corporate meetings, some overnight may be required.

This position requires prolonged periods of standing near equipment. The employee must be able to lift to 100 pounds as needed, demonstrate manual dexterity for working with controls, clamps, and tools. Ability to bend, twist, and move materials frequently. The role also requires occasional visits to construction sites, where the employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $97,900-124,300, excluding fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience. Furthermore, we place significant value on pay equity among our current team members as part of any final job offer.

Please note that the range provided above reflects the hiring range for this role. Hiring near the top end of this range would be atypical, as we aim to allow room for future salary growth.
