As the company continues to grow, it is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, compliance, and utilization of its fleet of construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and support vehicles. Job Details

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have experience managing construction fleets in a general contracting, heavy civil, utility, or industrial construction environment.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the company's fleet of construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and longevity.
Coordinate repairs with internal mechanics and outside service providers.
Monitor equipment utilization and recommend equipment transfers, replacements, rentals, or purchases based on project demands.
Maintain accurate fleet records, including maintenance history, inspections, licensing, registrations, warranties, and asset tracking.
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
Manage vendor relationships for equipment repairs, fuel, telematics, parts, and fleet services.
Track fleet operating costs including maintenance, fuel consumption, repairs, depreciation, and lifecycle management.
Assist with annual fleet budgeting and capital equipment planning.
Oversee equipment procurement, disposal, and replacement strategies.
Implement and manage GPS, telematics, and fleet management software to improve operational efficiency.
Support project teams by coordinating equipment availability and transportation logistics.
Develop KPIs and reporting related to equipment utilization, downtime, maintenance costs, and fleet performance.
Work closely with operations leadership to improve equipment reliability and maximize return on fleet assets.
Supervise fleet personnel, mechanics, and equipment coordinators as applicable.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Logistics, Engineering, Fleet Management, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of fleet management experience within commercial construction, heavy civil, industrial, utility, or general contracting.
Strong knowledge of construction equipment including earthmoving equipment, cranes, trucks, trailers, generators, compressors, and support vehicles.
Working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and equipment lifecycle management.
Familiarity with DOT regulations, CDL requirements, OSHA standards, and fleet compliance requirements.
Experience managing equipment budgets and vendor relationships.
Proficiency with fleet management software, telematics platforms, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities with the capability to work effectively across operations, project management, and field teams.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects while operating in a fast-paced construction environment.

Preferred Experience:
Experience managing fleets supporting multiple construction offices or regional operations.
Knowledge of heavy equipment procurement and capital planning.
Experience implementing telematics and equipment tracking systems.
Background in Lean operations or continuous improvement initiatives.
ASE, Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), or other fleet management certifications are a plus.
