Key Responsibilities of a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor:
Fleet Maintenance Operations
Oversee all daily fleet maintenance and repair activities
Ensure efficient shop workflow and minimal vehicle downtime
Schedule, assign, and prioritize work for technicians and shop staff
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance personnel
Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
Customer & Internal Service
Address customer and internal stakeholder inquiries professionally
Resolve concerns promptly while maintaining high service standards
Inventory & Equipment Management
Manage inventory of parts, tools, and shop supplies
Order materials and equipment as needed to support operations
Safety, Compliance & Organization
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant shop environment
Budget & Performance Management
Monitor shop expenses and manage operating budgets
Prepare reports and track key performance metrics
Fleet Maintenance Oversight
Ensure all vehicle maintenance and repairs meet quality and safety standards
Manage vehicle licensing and registration renewals
Schedule and coordinate all state inspections
Prepare vehicle damage estimates and work with outside appraisers as needed
Qualifications of a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor:
Experience: Prior experience in a transportation or automotive maintenance environment; supervisory experience strongly preferred
Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; automotive certifications or technical training a plus
Knowledge: Solid understanding of vehicle maintenance, repair procedures, and shop operations
